The Red Cups Are Here!!

3 Nov

THE RED CUPS ARE HERE!!

Yes, I realize it’s all a marketing ploy to make the consumers buy more coffee. And yes, I realize that my excitement over the calendar flipping over to November third just plays right into their scheme. And yes, I still went on opening red cup day to nab my very own part of the holidays. Touche Starbucks. Touche.

But come on… I couldn’t help myself! Seeing my name on the side of that jolly red cup launches my first spark of holiday cheer. So judge all you want… but in the end, I’ll be sipping on a nice, warm, grande Americano with a splash of soy in a cheery red cup.

And not that I need to justify my excitement… but if I did, I would direct your attention this website that counts down the exact seconds to Starbucks’ red cups. So yeah… it’s a pretty big deal.

What’s your have a favorite holiday drink??

Organic Honeycrisp on Sale… Let The Excitement Begin.

1 Nov

I wait for this day every year… Honeycrisp. Organic. On sale.

Honeycrisp. Organic. On sale. Why do I care so much about those three little words? This is why.

The Honeycrisp:

I have a passionate love affair with the apple. The pink apple in particular. I’m talking Fuji, Gala, Brae Burn, Pink Lady… But the real stud among this group of lookers? The Honeycrisp.

If you’ve never had a Honeycrisp before – stop reading this immediately and go sink your teeth into their tangy, sweet, tart, crisp goodness. If you have been lucky enough to taste this succulent beauty – well then, you know exactly what I am talking about.

Seriously. It’s amazing. You’re life will be changed. There is even a website dedicated to fellow honeycrisp lovers like myself.

Organic:

I always try to buy Organic whenever possible. Ya know… better for the environment, better for your health, and better for all that other jazz. Every now and then I am forced off my Organic course due to price or availability… but there are a few veggies where I never stray: The Dirty Dozen. And apples are smack dab in the middle of this “must buy” organic list. So as a personal rule – I live organic apple or bust.

On Sale:

Organic Honeycrisps will set you back a bit… like $3.00 a pound a bit. And while I am all for paying a little extra for high quality produce, even I had financial pains looking at that price tag. Buuuut fear not – because for one glorious week every year, the words on sale become attached attached to organic Honeycrisp. Now, I rationally realize that being on sale for $2.49 a pound only saves me 2 quarters, but come on… I count it.

Do you have another apple you wanna argue the merits of?? I am difficult to sway from my pro-honeycrisp oppinion… but I can we reasoned with.
